Prelude singers build upon basic music skills incorporating a full choir experience with performance opportunities for grades 1-2. The curriculum teaches unison and two-part folk storytelling songs while developing singing techniques and performance etiquette. During the hour-long rehearsal singers will learn music theory, while developing their musical knowledge on paper and through singing. Prelude singers perform in annual concerts and smaller performances throughout the year.
Training choirs include grades 3-6. They rehearse once a week for 1.5 hours, focusing more upon vocal technique. This places attention upon each individual singer, allowing them to feel confident and secure with their own voices as they are challenged with two- and three-part pieces. These choirs also continue to learn music theory skills, building upon prior knowledge. The Training Choirs level performs at annual concerts and recitals as well as smaller concerts and tours regionally.
The Resident Choirs bring children, grades 5-8, together for a 2-hour rehearsal once a week. Resident singers continue their music theory education while developing a unified ensemble sound through challenging music in many languages and styles. Resident Choirs perform more often and tour throughout the Midwest.
