Report an Absence   Concerts and Tickets   Singer Referral  Uniform Information

Hello Families!

Do you have a friend who loves to sing?!  Bring them to our next rehearsal for BRING A FRIEND WEEK!!! They can run through rehearsal and sing with us for the evening then have an audition at the end of the night with Mrs. Maxfield. Next rehearsal is also the NEW PARENT MEETING. See below for details.

What did we work on?

This week we learned “Everybody’s Welcome” with sign language, and used it to practice following Mrs. Maxfield’s conducting.  We also had fun playing the name game, and learning a new warm up, “Sea, Ocean, River” to review the different types of notes and rhythms in written music.  We lastly reviewed our 3 different postures, as well as 5 pure choral vowels (oo, oh, ah, eh ee).  We then passed out our assigned music and talked about the responsibility of keeping our music and folders in good condition until they are returned.

The importance of good practicing habits!

  • Singers should be practicing  the songs  and warm ups we worked on in rehearsal at home at least three times per week.

  • A good practice session includes warming up,  and singing through each song we have practiced in rehearsal 2-3 times, for a total of 15-20 minutes.

  • Sometimes Mrs. Maxfield will put up recordings of different parts on the training choir website for practicing on the right side of this webpage.

  • Singers and their families should chart their practice by having parents initial each day that their singer has practiced.

  • Mrs Maxfield and our rehearsal assistants will check each singer’s practice log when they check in at each rehearsal.

Warm ups: Doo, Doh,Dah,Deh, Dee (pure vowels, with motions)

Sea, Ocean, River River, Running River, Running River, Missisippi Missippi Missippi running to the sea

Sarasponda - practice with written music,

Both parts I and II from the beginning through the bottom of page 3.
